Cathedral Caverns Trail Run

Cathedral Caverns Trail Run is a trail event at Cathedral Caverns State Park, 637 Cave Rd, Woodville, AL. The event offers two distances:

5K
15K

The course begins in a valley with nearby mountains and fields visible. The final 1.2 miles of both the 5K and 15K run through the cave as an out and back 0.6 mile segment that allows two way traffic. Runners pick up a glow stick at the turnaround and decorative lighting is on inside the cave.

The 5K route includes an initial 0.9 mile section on gravel or paved road before entering single track trail to help runners spread out. Aid stations are provided on course offering water, sports drink, cola, pretzels, M&M's and other items. The event is operated as a cupless race so participants must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup; a reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for five dollars.

Field sizes are capped at 300 entries for each distance. All entrants receive a tri blend race shirt and a finisher medal. Age groups are 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. Cutoffs are set at 1 hour 15 minutes for the 5K and 2 hours 30 minutes for the 15K. There are no refunds or transfers and leftover shirts are donated when not claimed.
