Cathedral Caverns Trail Run
The event takes place at Cathedral Caverns State Park, 637 Cave Rd, Woodville, Alabama. The program includes two trail distances:
- 15K
- 5K
Both distances finish with a cave segment. The last 1.2 miles of each race run through the cave as an out and back 0.6 mile segment that is wide enough for two way traffic; runners pick up a glow stick at the turnaround and decorative lighting will be on inside the cave. The 5K route begins with about 0.9 mile on gravel or paved road before entering single track trail to allow runners to spread out.
Aid stations are provided on course and include water, Gatorade, Coca Cola, pretzels, M&M's and similar items. The event is cupless; runners must use a handheld bottle, pack or reusable cup. A reusable cup can be purchased during registration.
Each race is capped at 300 participants. All entrants receive a race shirt and a finisher medal, though sizes are subject to availability for late registrations. Average outdoor race day temperatures are listed as a low of 44F and a high of 67F while the cave maintains about 58F year round.
