Cathedral Caverns Trail Run

The Cathedral Caverns Trail Run takes place at Cathedral Caverns State Park in Woodville, AL on November 14, 2026. The event offers two trail distances and uses low-traffic trails that typically run rain or shine. Course maps and elevation profiles are available for both distances.

The final 1.2 miles of each course includes an out and back 0.6 mile segment through the cave. Runners pick up a glow stick at the turnaround point and decorative lighting is on inside the cave. The cave has a year-round temperature of about 58F; typical race day temperatures range near a low of 44F and a high of 67F.

Aid stations on course provide water, Gatorade, cola, pretzels, M&M's and other items. The event is cupless; participants must carry a hand-held bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A RunningLane reusable cup is available for purchase during checkout.

Registration is limited: the 5K and 15K fields are each capped at 300 runners. All registered runners receive a tri-blend race shirt and a finisher medal. Age-group awards are offered in these categories: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Strict time cutoffs apply: the 5K cutoff is 1 hour 15 minutes and the 15K cutoff is 2 hours 30 minutes because cave tours start after the race.

Volunteer shifts are available; volunteers who work defined shift lengths receive future event entries per the organizer's volunteer program. Limited park cabins are available for lodging. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
