Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series
The Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series is a three-race winter trail series organized by RunningLane Events at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. The series includes events on December 19, 2026, January 2, 2027, and January 16, 2027, and offers both short and long series options.
Courses include bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several on-course aid stations provide water, Gatorade, cola, GU, pretzels, M and M's, and granola bars. Marco's Pizza is a series sponsor and provides pizza at the finish line for participants. Race shirts are short sleeve tri-blend, and finishers receive awards and a series plaque.
Distances in the series:
- Frozen Yeti: 5 Mile, 10 Mile
- Frozen Trash Panda: 10K, Half Marathon
- Frozen Goat: 15K, 30K (short series default is 15K; a 4 Mile option is available by request)
The series bundle is capped at 250 runners. Short and long series bundle options include early and late registration price differences and per-race savings. Packet pickup is available the day before each race and on race morning at the local RunningLane pickup location. Age groups are 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Very loose time cutoffs apply; Long Series participants should plan for a 17 minute per mile cutoff. There are no refunds, deferrals, credits, or transfers.
