Event Information

The Skunk Ape Trail Run offers two distances: a 5 mile run and a 10 mile run. It is the third event in the Wild Thangs Trail Series. The race is held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, Alabama. The total number of participants is capped at 400 runners.

Course Details

The course is described as spectator-friendly compared to other trail events. It features several bluff views with mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Strava routes are available for both distances.

On-Site Services

Several aid stations are provided along the course. They offer water, Gatorade, cola, pretzels, M&M's, and granola bars. This is a "cupless" event; participants must carry their own reusable bottle, pack, or cup, as no paper cups are available. A RunningLane reusable cup can be purchased at registration.

Registration and Amenities

All participants receive a short-sleeve tri-blend t-shirt and a finisher award. The t-shirt is the same for the entire series. Age group awards are given in categories from 0-19 up to 70+ for all races.

Additional Notes

A pasta meal from the sponsor, Marco's Pizza, is available for participants at the finish line. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at RunningLane in Huntsville or on race morning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
