Skunk Ape Trail Run

Skunk Ape Trail Run is the third race in the Wild Thangs Trail Series held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. The event offers two trail distances and is limited to 400 runners. All participants receive a series t-shirt and a finisher award.

Course terrain includes bluff views, creek crossings and waterfalls. Several aid stations are placed on course supplying water, Gatorade, cola, pretzels, chocolate candies and granola bars. The series is sponsored by Marco's Pizza and pizza will be available at the finish line.

The event follows a cupless race policy. Runners must carry a handheld bottle, pack or reusable cup; a reusable cup is available for purchase during registration.

Packet pickup is available on the Friday before each race at the RunningLane store in Huntsville, and packets may also be collected on race morning. The same short sleeve tri blend shirt is used for every race in the series. Age groups are 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 plus.

Cutoffs are generally loose to encourage participation. A 17 minute per mile cutoff applies for Long Series participants and runners who cannot maintain roughly 15 minute miles are advised to consider the Short Series instead. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
