Volcanic 50

Volcanic 50 is a trail running event around Mt St Helens near Cougar, WA. The courses use predominantly single-track trails and circumnavigate the volcano. Most of the route uses the Loowit Trail, with about 4.5 miles off that trail. Terrain includes lava, boulders, pumice fields, river crossings, the blast zone and dense forest.

The 50K course includes approximately 7,400 feet of cumulative elevation gain and loss and is described as longer than typical 50K efforts. The 25K course includes about 3,200 feet of gain and loss and passes boulder fields, a debris flow area and wooded trail sections.

Field sizes are limited with capacities listed as 285 for the 50K and 325 for the 25K. Entry for the 50K requires prior completion of a trail 50K or previous completion of the Volcanic 25K; registrants must provide a link to an eligible 50K result during registration. The 25K has no prerequisite.

50K entrants must carry at least 40 oz of water, a lightweight water resistant jacket, an emergency blanket and a whistle. Cancellation more than 30 days before the event receives a 50% credit toward a future Go Beyond Racing event valid for 365 days and not transferable; cancellations 30 days or less before the event do not receive credit or refunds.
