Course and logistics
The course is a roughly 33.4-mile loop that mixes paved paths and single-track trails through lakes and wooded areas inside Shelby Farms Park. Wildlife on the course can include deer and buffalo. There are two fully manned aid stations at Hyde Lake Pavilion (start/finish area) and Tour de Wolf Pavilion; runners encounter the Tour de Wolf aid station twice per loop. Aid stations offer typical ultra foods, water, and electrolyte drinks; covered sleeping areas and drop bag access are available at both manned stations. At least one additional unmanned aid station is on course. Live tracking is provided for the 300 and 200 mile races.
Crew access is limited to the two manned aid stations. Pacers are permitted for the 300, 200 and 100 mile distances (one pacer at a time) and may begin pacing only after specified loop counts; no pacers are allowed for the 53K or 25K. Race rules prohibit dropping down during the race, muling, receiving crew assistance outside manned aid stations, cutting the course, and other forms of outside assistance.
