King 7-mile and Half Marathon

The event takes place on the Wolf River Trails in Memphis, TN and is organized by Mamba Trail Runners. Two race distances are offered:

  • 13.1 miles Half Marathon
  • 7 miles 7 mile race

The course uses smooth, flowing singletrack that is described as mostly flat, fast, and runnable. The Half Marathon follows much of the same route used for the Mamba 100; the full Mamba 100 loop is 14 miles and the Half Marathon removes a section to create the 13.1 mile distance.

This is a cupless race, so runners must bring a handheld bottle, hydration vest, or other personal hydration. Aid stations are placed roughly near mile 3 to 4 and again near mile 8 to 9 for half marathon runners. The Start/Finish aid station is described as fully stocked with food, cooling towels, fans, ice water, and race-day support. Runners are asked to wear their bib on the front for photography. All participants receive a custom finisher medal.

Packet pickup is scheduled at the Wolf River Refuge Trailhead on the day before the race. The course will be marked by noon on that day and the trails close at dark. Parking is at the Wolf River Refuge Trailhead with overflow parking on the grass behind the lot. There are no refunds or roll-over credits. Summer weather in Memphis can be hot, humid, and subject to storms; the race director may postpone or cancel the event for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
