Tuthell 50K
Sioux Falls, United States • 2 May 2026
Event overview
TutHell 50K is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at 3500 S Cliff Ave. The race uses a repeated loop format: entrants run a 0.31-mile loop up and down Tut Hill one hundred times. Each loop includes roughly 90 feet of elevation gain and 90 feet of elevation loss. Trekking poles are allowed. The route will be marked and race chip timing with live tracking is provided through UltraSignup.
Race format and logistics
Entry is by essay only. The essay window for 2026 is December 1, 2025 through April 22, 2026; the TutHell committee reviews essays and selected runners receive an invitation to register. Open registration on UltraSignup does not apply; registration closes April 27, 2026.
The event uses a free-will donation model instead of a fixed registration fee. Donations are pooled in a charitable fund, are intended to be tax deductible, and will be distributed to the charities chosen by the male and female winners. The 2026 fundraising goal is $10,000 total ($5,000 per charity). Runners are asked to honor their pledge before race day.
A fully stocked aid station will be located at the top of the hill by the bathrooms/storm shelter. Runners are encouraged to bring their own fueling and one support person; support people have access to snacks. All entrants are asked to remain until the last runner has dropped or missed the 12 hour cutoff. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
