Crazy Bear Ultra - July 18, 2026

Crazy Bear Ultra is a trail race held at Great Bear Ski Valley near Sioux Falls, SD. The event offers three distances:

  • Crazy Bear 50k
  • Crazy Bear 30k
  • Crazy Bear 20k

Each race uses a roughly 10k loop, described in the course materials as about 6 miles, with nearly 1200 ft of elevation gain per loop. Distances are achieved by repeating the loop the required number of times: two, three, or five loops for the 20k, 30k, and 50k respectively. Start and finish areas are located near the Bear Den (Chalet); the aid station and drop bag area are also at that location. The aid station is available at the start and end of each loop.

Packet pickup details are to be announced. Organizers will hold a brief pre-race briefing at the start line about ten minutes before each race; runners need to check in at packet pickup on race day before those announcements begin.

Drop bags may be placed on a tarp beside the aid station and must be labeled by the runner. Organizers state they do not actively monitor personal items. Event swag for 2026 is to be determined and will feature a crazy bear logo; sign-up by June 10 is recommended to guarantee swag. Registration closes on Saturday, July 4 at 11:59 PM CT.
