Duff Dog Backyard Ultra

Duff Dog Backyard Ultra is scheduled for October 10, 2026 at Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne, MN. The event uses a loop course on the park trail system that is about 95% grass, with a short amount of gravel and a brief paved section. The runner support area includes shaded space and a shelter building, and there is nearby camping available close to the course for family and friends.

The event follows the backyard ultra format and specific rules for loop length and conduct. Each loop must be 4 miles 880 feet in length, with the metric equivalent given as 6.7056 kilometers. Loops start precisely one hour apart and each loop must be completed within the hour to count. All competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell and must start with the field; late starts are not allowed. Competitors may not leave the course during a loop except to use restrooms, and no personal aid is allowed while on a loop though common aid stations are permitted. Artificial aids, including trekking poles, are prohibited. Slower runners are expected to allow passes. Timing of loops is optional. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; all others are recorded by distance covered and are technically listed as DNF if not the final loop completer. The event is open ended and has no fixed cap. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
