Duff Dog Backyard Ultra
The Duff Dog Backyard Ultra is held at Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne, MN. The event uses an established trail loop that is about 4 miles 880 feet long (metric 6.7056 kilometers). The course surface is mostly grass with a small amount of gravel and a short paved stretch.
The runner support area includes shade and a shelter building. There is nearby camping available just off the course for family and friends to use during the event.
The event follows Backyard Ultra rules. Each loop starts precisely one hour after the last, with warnings three, two, and one minute(s) before the start. All competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell and must start at the bell; the corral is measured to fit the field and remains the same size throughout the event. Each loop must be completed within an hour to count, including the final lap. Except for restroom breaks, competitors may not leave the course during a loop. Non-competitors are not allowed on the course, and eliminated runners may not reenter the course. Personal aid while on a loop is not allowed, though common aid stations are permitted. Artificial aids, including trekking poles, are not allowed. Timing of individual loops is optional. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; all others are recorded as DNF and results report distances covered. The race is open ended with no cap.
