Duff Dog Backyard Ultra

The Duff Dog Backyard Ultra is scheduled for October 10, 2026, at Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne, MN. The event uses an established trail system and a loop course that is about 95% grass, with some gravel and a short paved section. The runner support area includes shaded space and a shelter building. Nearby camping is available just off the course for family and friends.

The loop length is 4 miles 880 feet (6.7056 kilometers). The format requires each loop to start precisely one hour after the previous, with warnings given three, two, and one minutes before the bell. Participants must be in the starting corral at the bell and must start at the bell. Each loop must be completed within the hour to be counted. Except for restrooms, competitors may not leave the course during a loop. No personal aid is allowed during a loop; common aid stations are permitted. Artificial aids, including trekking poles, are not allowed. Slower runners must allow passes.

Timing of individual loops is optional. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; all others are recorded as DNF in terms of winning. If no runner can complete one more loop than anyone else, there is no winner. The race is open ended. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
