About the race
The Tunnel Hill 100 is a multi-distance ultramarathon event in Vienna, IL, organized by Durbin Race Management and scheduled for November 14, 2026. Runners start and finish at Vienna City Park and use the Tunnel Hill State Trail, a crushed limestone rails-to-trail route with a gentle 2 percent grade and an iconic tunnel.

- 50 Mile (USATF 50 Mile National Championship division)
- 50 Miler
- Marathon
The certified course layout sends runners south to the Wetlands Center (13.1094 miles), then north 25 miles to a northern turnaround and back to Vienna City Park for a 50 mile loop; repeating that loop yields the 100 mile distance. The 100 km turnaround is located about 6.06855 miles past the first southern aid station. The 50 km and 100 km finishes are official certified distances. Time limits are 30 hours for 100 mile, 100 km, and 50 mile races, and 100 mile runners must begin the second 50 in under 15 hours.
The event includes stocked aid stations with food and drinks, porta-johns at multiple locations, guidance on drop bag size, pacer rules, and shoe regulations consistent with IAU standards (commercially available shoes, soles not greater than 40 mm, and no more than one carbon plate). There are no refunds and no bib transfers. Several world and national records and course bests have been set at Tunnel Hill in past editions.
