Shawnee Hills Trail Races take place at Camp Ondessonk in Ozark, Illinois, inside Shawnee National Forest. The event offers 100 Mile, 100K, 50K, Half Marathon, and a Night 50K, with pacers permitted for the 100-mile and 100K distances only. The course is a figure-eight loop, about 80% single-track dirt trails, highly technical and hilly, with rock, roots, and creek crossings and a total climb of thousands of feet over the long distances. Runners explore sandstone canyons and pass waterfalls such as Pakentuck, Jackson, Horseshoe, and Cedar Falls, with views from Salomon’s Ridge.
