TruStrength "Uphill Will" 24 Hr skimo
Greenwood, United States • 14 Mar 2026
Event overview
TruStrength "Uphill Will" 24 Hr skimo is an annual fundraiser held on March 14, 2026 at Mt Abram Ski Area in Greenwood, ME. The event is a 24-hour vertical challenge in which participants ski uphill laps to accumulate as much vertical gain as possible. Event categories include a Vertical Challenge and team relays for two-person and four-person teams. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit TruStrength Tomorrow to provide scholarships for low income youth and support mentorship through fitness programs such as a high school uphill ski club.
Course and rules
The exact uphill route is set by mountain operations and patrol and may change based on snow conditions. Organizers generally use a daytime route designed to deliver about 1,000 ft of vertical per lap while avoiding downhill traffic. Skiers may descend any open trail. When the resort closes for the night, the uphill route is shifted to a more direct line. Racers must use the approved uphill course for laps to count; leaving the approved course may result in disqualification. The course is marked with wanding for day use and lanterns for night use, with some ski lights on course. Skiers may take breaks but must inform timing staff if a break will exceed 30 minutes. All laps must be completed by Sunday morning to count toward official vertical.
Aid and support
An aid table at the timing area will offer water, electrolytes, and race food, with hot items rotated through the evening such as grilled cheese, pizza, and ramen. The event typically serves fresh fruit pie with hot coffee at the finish. Non-racing supporters must purchase an uphill ticket and follow resort policies. Competitors may bring personal aid and set up support tents in designated areas; the lodge is available for bathrooms and warm-ups but not for camping or spreading wet gear.
