TruStrength "Uphill Will" 24 hour skimo : Greenwood, ME

TruStrength "Uphill Will" is a 24 hour vertical ski event held at Mt Abram Ski Area in Greenwood, ME. The event invites solo competitors and relay teams to complete as much uphill vertical as they can within the 24 hour period. Event categories include a Vertical Challenge, 4 person relay team, and 2 person relay team.

The exact uphill course depends on snow conditions and mountain operations. Organizers generally set a daytime route designed to gain roughly 1,000 feet of vertical per lap while minimizing interference with downhill traffic. Skiers may descend any open trail. When nighttime operations begin the course is adjusted to be more direct. The uphill route for counting laps is the approved course set by the mountain and race director; laps not completed on the approved route will not count in official results.

The course is wanded for daytime use and lanterned for the night portion; some ski-area lights may be on course. Competitors may leave the course for breaks or sleep but must notify timing staff if a break will exceed 30 minutes. Relay teams may have only one teammate on course at a time and must exchange bibs when switching skiers; team members do not all need to be present for one teammate to continue.

Aid at the timing area will include water, electrolytes, and rotating hot food such as grilled cheese, pizza, and ramen through the evening, with fruit pie and hot coffee served at the finish. Support skiers not entered must purchase an uphill ticket and follow resort policies. Skiers may set up personal aid tents in designated areas and may use the lodge for bathrooms and warming but not for camping or sprawling wet gear. A possible snowshoe 12 hour category is under consideration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
