TruStrength "Uphill Will" 24 Hr skimo

Greenwood, United States • 14 Mar 2026

Event

The TruStrength "Uphill Will" 24-hour skimo is a 24-hour uphill vertical challenge held on March 14, 2026, at Mt Abram Ski Area in Greenwood, ME. The event is an annual fundraiser that benefits the non-profit TruStrength Tomorrow, which provides scholarships and mentorship through fitness programs such as a high school uphill ski club. The event offers individual and team relay entries, including two-person and four-person relay options. The current course record is 44,000 ft.

Course and rules

The typical course uses a single daytime uphill route that aims to provide about 1,000 ft of vertical per lap. Skiers may descend any open trail. After the resort closes for the night, the uphill route is adjusted to be more direct. Racers must use only the approved uphill course to have laps counted; warnings about leaving the course can lead to disqualification. The uphill route will be wanded for daytime use and lanterned for night sections, and some resort ski lights will be in place. Skiers may take breaks or sleep off course but must inform timing staff if a break will exceed 30 minutes.

Logistics and support

Relay teams may have only one skier on course at a time and must swap bibs when exchanging skiers; teammates do not all need to be present for a team member to continue. An aid table at the timing area will offer water, electrolytes, and rotating hot foods such as grilled cheese, pizza, and ramen; the event normally serves fruit pie and hot coffee for a morning meal. Non-racing supporters must purchase an uphill ticket to be on ski property and follow resort policies. Skiers may bring personal aid and set up support tents in designated areas; the lodge is available for bathrooms and warm-ups but may not be used for camping or to spread out wet gear. Organizers hope to add a 12-hour snowshoe category during closed-resort hours, pending negotiations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
