TRSA On the Trails – Mount Bold (Race #5, 2026)

This event is the TRSA Trail Championship round held at Mount Bold in October 2026. The venue is Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve on Mount Bold Road, Kangarilla SA, Australia.

Mount Bold Reservoir is the largest reservoir in South Australia and is surrounded by more than 5,500 hectares of land with native vegetation of conservation significance. The route passes through stringybark and manna gum woodlands, swamps and creeks, and the reserve is home to over 160 native animals including the Southern Brown Bandicoot. The site offers panoramic views across the dam wall and over the Mount Lofty Ranges and is under a 50 minute drive from central Adelaide.

The event features varied trail terrain with uphill sections and multiple distance options, including an extra-long course. Runners should expect marked drink stations supplying water, Tailwind and lollies and must bring their own drinking container. The long and extra-long courses carry UTMB Index status and are ITRA National Challenge events, though the courses do not attract ITRA points. Prize trophies are awarded to championship placegetters and a members-only random draw is held. An optional post-event lunch at Anvers Wines is offered.

Distances:

  • Extra long - 35 km
  • Long - 25 km
  • Medium - 19 km
  • Short - 10 km
  • Kids cross country - 1 km

Course closures and pace cutoffs are enforced and participants must remain ahead of course sweepers. Walkers may take part in the short event only. A free kids cross-country run is held near the finish; children should be accompanied by an adult. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
