Trossachs Trundle

The Trossachs Trundle is a 22.4 mile challenge walk organised by the LDWA - Heart of Scotland. The circular route starts and finishes at the HQ at Kirk Hall, Callander (GR NN629077) and circumnavigates Loch Venachar. Total ascent along the route is about 3,350 ft (1,020 m).

The route leaves Callander, passes Bracklinn Falls and goes over Callander Crags, offering views toward Ben Vorlich and Stuc a' Chroin on one side and Loch Venachar and Ben Ledi on the other. The walk then follows the Rob Roy Way to the first checkpoint at Bochastle (about 7.6 miles). It continues along the Great Trossachs Path above the north side of Loch Venachar to the Brig o'Turk checkpoint (about 13.7 miles). After crossing Black Water and passing through Achray Farm, the route follows the south shore of Loch Venachar with a further checkpoint at about 19.1 miles, then returns through Coilhallan Wood to the HQ.

The route is mainly on good tracks, paths and private roads. The event is intended for walkers and has a minimum participant age of 16 or older. Entries open on 23 March 2026 and close on 5 September 2026. Entry fees differ for LDWA members and non-members and change from 1 May 2026.
