Trails & Tarmac Backyard Ultra is a Limitless Trails event set near Crickhowell in the Black Mountains, Powys. The event uses a loop of 4.167 miles and awards medals to any participant who reaches 32 miles. The last person to complete a loop is awarded the winner's trophy. The event is organised as a backyard ultra and is listed with an entry fee of £100 and a minimum age of 17.
Format, rules and facilities
Each loop starts exactly one hour after the previous loop. Competitors must start at the bell and are given short countdown warnings before each loop. Each loop must be completed within one hour to count. Runners may not leave the course during a loop except for restrooms, no personal aid is allowed during a loop, and one common aid station is provided at headquarters. Artificial aids, including trekking poles, are not permitted. Timing will be provided and results record distance covered; the winner is the last runner to complete a loop and other finishers are recorded as DNF if they finish before 32 miles. The race is open-ended.
Supporter rules and site services include no supporters in the starting corral, restrictions on phone contact with runners while on course, medics on site, showers and toilets, photographers during daytime, on-site parking with a £5 charge, and basic camping near headquarters.
