Trails 4 Tails : Codorus State Park, Hanover PA

Trails 4 Tails is a trail event at Codorus State Park offering multiple looped distance options on varied terrain. The course includes about one mile of pavement, open fields, winding singletrack, and, when conditions allow, a stretch along the lake shoreline. Runners pass the Chestnut Orchard, the site of Rummel Farm, and the historic Mary Ann Furnace area. The course direction alternates by year with odd years run clockwise and even years run counterclockwise.

Distances offered:

  • 40 Mile Ultra: 7 loops of 5.72 miles, approximately 4,200 feet total elevation gain.
  • 40 Mile Relay: 7 loops of 5.72 miles, roughly 600 feet elevation gain per loop; teams may include up to 7 runners.
  • 25K+: 3 loops of 5.72 miles, about 17.2 miles and ~1,800 feet elevation gain.

All distances start and finish at Pavilion #1 where restrooms and a fully stocked aid station are available. Aid station items include Tailwind, Coke, ginger ale, bacon, pierogies, quesadillas, grilled cheese, pickles, and a mix of sweet and salty snacks. Cutoffs are specified for each distance, including an 11 hour overall cutoff for the ultra and relay and a 7.5 hour cutoff for the 25K. Participants who register by August 1 receive an official race shirt. Camping is available at Codorus State Park and there is a race day picnic.
