Trail Run Xtreme
Portage, United States • 17 May 2026
Event Overview
The Trail Run Xtreme takes place at the Outback Trail in Imagination Glen East, Portage, Indiana. This trail event utilizes woodsy single-track routes including the Iron Horse Heritage Trail. Participants navigate a course composed of approximately 95% shaded woodland. Technical features of the route include tree roots, hills, logs, and mud puddles, alongside various twists, turns, and potential water crossings.
The event features two primary distances:
- 12K Trail Race: Open to all ages.
- 3K Kids Race: Limited to participants aged 14 and under.
The initial portion of the course loops around soccer fields to allow for runner spacing before entering the wooded sections. Organizers utilize flags, signs, tape, and course marshals to mark the path. Due to the terrain and narrow tracks, strollers and dogs are prohibited on the race course, though leashed dogs are permitted in the staging area.
Participants receive a specific event shirt, with size availability guaranteed for those who register by May 1. Following the race, a meal including fruit and snacks is provided for attendees. Bug spray is also made available to participants before the start.
Registration for the 12K distance includes reduced pricing for participants aged 18 and under. This event is part of the Calumet Striders Gold Cup Series. Awards are presented to the top three finishers in standard age categories, as well as to winners in the Clydesdale and Athena divisions and military branch representatives. A portion of the proceeds supports the Outback Trail Commission for trail maintenance and construction. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
