Top of Tamarack

Event Overview

The Top of Tamarack is a mountain event focused on suicide awareness and mental health recovery. Located in Tamarack, Idaho, the course utilizes a service road that leads toward the mountain summit. Participants navigate the route by running, hiking, or biking while viewing the landscape of Valley County. Proceeds from the event support Gr8ter, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to mental health hope and recovery.

Course and Format

The event features a flexible distance format where participants can choose to tackle any portion of the service road. Those who complete the full route will face a 2,900 foot elevation gain. The course is marked at every mile post with specific tokens intended to represent mental strength. Participants are encouraged to collect these tokens as they progress before returning back down the mountain. There is no "did not finish" (DNF) designation for this event, as it emphasizes personal achievement and the journey toward the summit.

Available Categories

The event offers two primary categories for participants:

• 15 Miles Run or Hike
• 15 Miles Bike ride

Recognition is given to the first male and female participants in both the biking and running categories to reach the summit, who are designated as the King and Queen of the Mountain.
