Sasquatch Shuffle Trail Runs : Ponderosa State Park, McCall, Idaho

The Sasquatch Shuffle is a loop-format trail race held at Ponderosa State Park in McCall, Idaho, serving as a fundraiser for local trails and the park. The event offers three distances:

  • 50k
  • 30k
  • 20k

Each loop measures 6.79 miles with roughly 640 feet of elevation gain per loop. The course uses varied terrain including rolling and rocky sections, flowy single-track, some double-track, and short stretches of gravel and pavement. Views include Payette Lake and fall foliage such as huckleberry, Rocky Mountain maple, aspen, and larches. The exact course alignment is kept low-key until race weekend and is run as multiple loops that allow support and aid between laps.

The event emphasizes low-impact practices: no paper products at aid stations, local businesses supply aid items and prizes, and organizers aim for minimal race-day trash. Hand-made bibs and finisher medals are produced for participants, and the event provides treats for well-behaved leashed dogs that accompany runners. A virtual option takes place during October 1–31. Trail maintenance and volunteer trail work are a stated part of the organizing group’s mission, and proceeds from the races are directed back to local Northwest trails and Ponderosa State Park.
