Sasquatch Shuffle Trail Runs
The Sasquatch Shuffle is a looped trail running event at Ponderosa State Park near McCall, Idaho, scheduled for October 10, 2026. The event is organized as a fundraiser; registration fees, donations, and proceeds support Ponderosa State Park trails and local trail work. Endless Trails is a Northwest 501(c)(3) nonprofit involved in the events.
The course uses repeated loops of 6.79 miles each with roughly 640 feet of elevation gain per loop. Terrain on the loops includes rolling and rocky trails, flowy single track, some double track, gravel, and short sections of pavement. Runners pass views of Payette Lake and areas of fall foliage including huckleberry, Rocky Mountain maple, aspen, and larch.
Organizers emphasize low-impact practices. The event avoids paper products, partners with local businesses for aid and prizes, and aims to minimize race-day trash. The format accommodates canine participants on leash and includes handmade bibs and finisher tokens. There is an in-person race and a virtual option held October 1-31.
Camping is available in Ponderosa State Park on a first-come, first-serve basis; off-season lodging is commonly available nearby. Weather in October can be variable in mountain conditions, including temperature swings and possible precipitation, so layered and waterproof clothing is recommended.
