Sasquatch Shuffle Trail Runs
The Sasquatch Shuffle is a fundraising trail event held in Ponderosa State Park, located in McCall, Idaho. Organised by the non-profit Endless Trails, all proceeds from the event are donated to support local trail maintenance and specifically the trails within the state park.
Participants can choose from three main distances, which are run on a repeating loop format:
- 20 km
- 30 km
- 50 km
The course consists of a 6.79-mile loop featuring varied terrain. The route includes flowy single-track, double-track, some gravel, and short sections of pavement. Runners encounter rolling, rocky, and flat sections with approximately 640 feet of elevation gain per loop. The course is kept secret until the day of the event to maintain a low-key atmosphere.
The event emphasizes a low-impact approach with a "leave no trace" policy. No paper products are provided, and the organizers aim to produce less than one bag of trash. Aid stations are stocked with homemade food and supplies sourced from local businesses.
The trails pass through diverse autumn foliage including huckleberry, rocky mountain maple, aspen, and larches, offering views of Payette Lake. In addition to the in-person race in October, a virtual option is available throughout the month. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are permitted to participate alongside their owners.
