Trail Running in French Park
The Tiger Trail Run is a trail-based event located at French Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. As part of the Alpine Trail Race Series Season 3, the event utilizes the natural landscape of French Shelter Park, featuring a course that winds through wooded perimeters and large meadow areas. The terrain includes a creek known for fossils and offers significant elevation changes, with the park providing up to 331 feet of total ascent.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 5K trail race
- 10K trail race (consisting of two loops of the 5K route)
- Half-Marathon (consisting of two loops of a separate 5K course)
Event Features and Participation
This event is open to both runners and walkers. It is a themed race where participants are encouraged, though not required, to wear costumes. A best costume award is presented at the live race. All finishers receive a themed finisher medal. The race has a total course time limit of three hours.
Competition and Series Information
The event is a qualifying race for the Alpine Trail Race Series, which runs annually from March to October. Participants earn points toward yearly series awards based on their finishing position in their respective age categories. Points are awarded based on gun times for the top ten finishers, with additional participation points available. The series offers travel opportunities for the overall male and female winners at the end of the season.
Registration and Regulations
Race registration is conducted online. On the day of the event, bib pickup begins 30 minutes before the start and concludes 10 minutes prior to departure. Entry fees are non-refundable, though registrations can be transferred to another race within the series if a participant is unable to attend. A discount is available for participants under the age of 20 to encourage youth participation in trail running. Dogs are not permitted on the race course.
