Beast Of The East Fork : Course and Obstacles

The event on May 30th 2026 takes place at East Fork State Park, just east of Cincinnati. The course is designed to approximate a 5K distance, roughly 3.1 miles, while primarily using existing park trails to limit impact on the natural habitat.

The event includes 15 or more natural and man-made obstacles. Obstacles have varied year to year; examples from previous editions include tire climbs, mud crawls, tube crawls, tight rope crossings, a parachord "spider web," wall climbs, balance beams, hi/low barriers, sandbag or heavy carries, tire flips, and a tire run.

Additional features listed from prior courses include cargo nets suspended between trees, a broken bridge requiring balance, and a hill climb for which a rope may be provided for assistance. The final segment described for past courses is a beach run of about seventy yards through approximately six-inch deep sand before the finish area.

Obstacle designs may be updated each year. The course layout aims to balance a near-5K distance with use of existing trails and the preservation of the park environment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
