ARI Oxbow Adventure Trek and 5K
The event takes place on June 6, 2026, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, at the Guard Archaeological Preserve and the Oxbow area near 777 Hollywood Blvd. A single registration covers entry to both the 5K and the Adventure Trek; participants may choose to do one or both. The 5K distance is 3.1 miles.

The Adventure Trek is an untimed, immersive trail experience with multiple stops along GAP trails. Teams encounter hands-on challenges that simulate archaeological survey, study, and site protection. The event theme is "Stories Beneath the Soil: Survey, Study, and Protect." Start times for the Trek are staggered and are selected during registration.
Additional event features include packet pickup at ARI basecamp and at the race starting line on event day, an Open House at the Guard Archaeological Preserve, prizes for race finishers and costume or team awards, a 5K scavenger-hunt raffle prize, food trucks, live music, community booths, fundraising activities, an atlatl and spear range, experimental gardens, accessible parking at the starting line and GAP, and shuttle service from the Hollywood Casino overflow parking lot.
