Three Sisters Ultra Festival
The Three Sisters Ultra Festival is a trail running festival held in the Maryville College Woods with events based at the McArthur Pavilion. The festival runs timed events on a repeat loop course and offers team relays and night options for some races.
Distances and formats include:
- 24 hour timed event
- 12 hour timed event with day or night option
- 6 hour timed event with day or night option
The course is a 2.2 mile loop with about 120 feet of elevation gain per loop. The loop starts and ends at the McArthur Pavilion, where runners can access aid on every lap and set up a personal aid area under the pavilion or in the adjacent yard. The on-site aid station includes indoor shelter and a fireplace; access to aid station amenities is limited to runners and pacers wearing an event bib.
Loop counts correspond to standard distances: 12 loops equals a marathon, 15 loops equals a 50K, 29 loops equals a 100K, and 46 loops equals 100 miles. The 56 loop mark is noted as the course record distance of 121.875 miles set in 2021.
Additional festival features listed include live music, other on-site activities such as disc golf, chip timing with bib placement required on the front of the participant, and packet pickup at the McArthur Pavilion the evening before and the morning of the event. The event also offers a Double Ultra option that pairs the 24 hour race here with another 24 hour festival so both medals fit a custom frame.
