Course Details
The 4-mile and 7-mile courses begin with a very short section on a paved road before entering the trails of Sharp's Ridge. The trails are described as moderately technical, with a flowing path that gradually climbs and descends the ridge. The Kids Trail Mile is run entirely on trail.
The course uses named trails including Hanover Street, Lincoln, Sharp Shin, Push Line, and Firebreak. The 7-mile route extends further, incorporating a section along a road to Independence and an oval loop. The event has a minimum pace requirement of 18 minutes per mile, and a sweeper will be on the course.
Location
All races start and finish at the same location: Dr. Paul L. Kelley Volunteer Academy (formerly Lincoln Park Technology and Trade Center) at 535 Chickamauga Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37917. The registration and staging area is also at this location, though the Kids Trail Mile starts at the base of the trailhead nearby.
Additional Information
Aid and water stations are provided, though runners are encouraged to carry their own water. For safety, runners under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult to participate in the 4-mile or 7-mile races. Participants are asked not to use headphones, earphones, bicycles, baby strollers, roller blades, or bring pets on the course.
