Firewater Ultra : Greenback, TN

Firewater Ultra is a trail race series held along the East Lakeshore Trail on the east side of the Tellico Reservoir near Greenback, Tennessee. The event uses the full length of the trail system and returns to the southern terminus at the Wildcat Pointe Trailhead (#10).

Distances and formats:

  • 100K out-and-back along the entire trail
  • 50K point-to-point from the northern end back to Wildcat Pointe
  • 50K Relay two-person teams, each running half the 50K course
  • 50K Sunrise and 50K Sunset start options
  • 25K Ruck about 22.5K, covering the second half of the 50K course

The 100K runs from Wildcat Pointe to the Canal Branch Trailhead (#1) and returns. Solo 50K runners ride a bus to the northern trailhead and run back to the finish. Relay exchanges use the Sinking Creek Trailhead (#4) for the handoff between teammates. The 25K Ruck begins at the Sinking Creek aid station and follows the latter portion of the 50K course. Rucking weight requirements are specified: male and nonbinary 30 lb dry, female 15 lb dry, boys under 15 years 20 lb dry, girls under 15 years 10 lb dry. Runners can opt into live tracking for each race. The event offers a hoodie sweatshirt as participant swag; the shirt order is placed October 16. Registration closes October 24.
