Firewater Ultra
Firewater Ultra is a trail event held on the East Lakeshore Trail along the east side of Tellico Reservoir near Greenback, Tennessee. The event uses the trail system end-to-end and finishes at the Wildcat Pointe Trailhead (Trailhead #10). Course options follow the trail north to the Canal Branch Trailhead (Trailhead #1) and back, or cover portions of that route.
Available distances and formats:
- 100K - entire length out and back
- 50K - starts at the northern end and returns to the finish
- 50K Relay - two-person relay sharing the 50K course
- 50K Sunrise - 50K option starting earlier in the day
- 50K Sunset - 50K option starting later to run toward sunset
- 25K Ruck - about 22.5K covering the second half of the 50K
The 50K relay uses bus transport for the first leg and a vehicle drop at Sinking Creek Trailhead (Trailhead #4) for the second leg. The 25K Ruck requires weighted packs with specified dry weights by category: male and non-binary 30 lb, female 15 lb, boys under 15 years 20 lb, girls under 15 years 10 lb. Weigh-in procedures occur before the event and finish weigh-in is used to validate ruck patches. The event offers aid stations, cutoff information, crew access points, and optional live tracking for participants and their crews. A sweatshirt order will be placed on October 16, so size availability depends on registration before that date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
