Haw Ridge Trail Race

The Haw Ridge Trail Race takes place in Haw Ridge Park near Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The event utilizes the natural terrain of the area, providing a mix of elevation changes and scenic views along the water. Participants travel through wooded trails and along the lakeside during the competition.

The event offers two primary distances:

  • 8 Miles
  • 1 Mile

The 8 Mile course features a significant climb within the first mile of the race. After reaching the ridge, the route remains at elevation for a period before descending toward the lake. The final several miles of the course are located along the shoreline, providing a flat surface leading back to the finish line. Due to the technical nature of the trails, the organizers enforce a minimum pace of 18 minutes per mile. Runners under the age of 12 participating in this distance must be accompanied by an adult.

The 1 Mile distance is a trail run designed for children. The course is situated almost entirely on off-road trails. Parents are permitted to run alongside their children during this event.

One aid station is positioned approximately halfway through the longer course at a lakeside picnic area. This station provides a limited supply of small cups, and participants are encouraged to carry their own hydration containers. For safety reasons, the use of headphones, strollers, bicycles, and pets is prohibited on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
