Three Little Pigs 5K Trail Run

The Three Little Pigs 5K Trail Run is held at Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge in Pittsboro. The event is an officially timed 5K that follows three loops on gravel roads through the refuge's fields and forests. Runners pass the houses and habitats of rescued goats, sheep, cows, ducks, geese, and chickens as the course winds through the property. The route also provides access to the refuge's new land set aside for future rescued pigs.

Immediately after the timed 5K, a family friendly Fun Run allows participants to move at their own pace toward the new pig habitat, where a tour guide will describe the refuge's vision for the pig homes. The event features food and drink vendors and concludes with a trophy ceremony for winners.

All participants receive Race T Shirts, swag bags, and finisher medals. The event raises funds for Phase 2 of The Pig Project, a campaign to build houses and other essential infrastructure so rescued pigs can be provided with a forever home. The refuge is seeking event sponsors and has sponsorship levels and perks available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
