Tough as Trails Race Series

Tough as Trails is an off road race series presented by Bull City Running Co. It comprises three single track trail races in North Carolina, with locations that include Eno River State Park, Uwharrie National Forest, and the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. The series is associated with Durham, NC.

Distances and dates for the 2026–2027 series:

  • Eno River Run (10/25/2026): 6 or 11 miles
  • Uwharrie Mountain Run (02/06/2027): 8, 20, or 40 miles
  • Mountains-to-Sea Trail Challenge (04/11/2027): 12 miles or 50 km

Series registration opens July 15, 2026 and closes October 24, 2026. All races offer multiple distance options, so the total cost of the series depends on the distance selected for each race.

Series rules require participants to register for all three races and to complete all races to be eligible for awards. Series scoring and awards are based on total mileage completed, with final distance calculated after the last race. Requests to change distance must be made at least one month before a race; refunds and participant transfers are not permitted after registering for the series. No refund will be issued for an adjustment to a reduced distance and additional fees may apply for an increased distance.

All series finishers receive a custom finisher award in addition to benefits and finisher prizes from each individual race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
