Central Children's Home Cross Country Festival

The Durham Striders Youth Association will host the fourth annual Central Children's Home Cross Country Festival on September 26, 2026, at the Central Children's Home of North Carolina, 211 W. Antioch Dr., Oxford, NC 27565. The festival stages a program of 11 events across youth, middle school, high school, collegiate, and adult divisions. Entry is by online registration with a stated fee of $20.00 per athlete. Proceeds will benefit in part the Central Children's Home of North Carolina and the Durham Striders Youth Association.

Packet pickup and a course preview are available at the Central Children's Home Pavilion the day before and on the day of the festival. Results services are provided by TDeming Timing and Events. The festival requests that no strollers, baby joggers, or pets attend the competition.

Distances contested at the festival include:

  • High school races: 5 km
  • Middle school races: 3 km
  • Adult Run Walk for adults 19 and older: 5 km
  • Collegiate women: 6 km
  • Collegiate men: 8 km
  • Youth races across age groups: 4 km, 3 km, 2 km

World Relief Durham's third Run for Refugees 5K is on August 22, 2026 at Miracle Park in Durham. Paid entries include a shirt and professional timing, and children age 5 and under may participate free with an adult.

Muddy Princess Raleigh is a women only 5K obstacle mud run at North Carolina Motorsports Park on August 23, 2026. The course features 18 plus obstacles and welcomes participants aged seven and older to run, jog or walk.

A community event at Herndon Park using the American Tobacco Trail with a 5K, a 1 mile fun run and a virtual Sleep In Superhero option. Proceeds support outreach and education on organ eye and tissue donation in North Carolina.
