Event overview

The Cane Creek Mtn Trail Run takes place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Cane Creek Mountain Natural Area in Snow Camp, NC. The event offers two distances: a 10K and a Half Marathon. The park is a new, 1,000-acre natural area and the race finishes at the Pine Hill Trailhead (5075 Bass Mountain Road).

Distances

  • 10K - 6.2 miles, 652' elevation gain
  • Half Marathon - 13.4 miles, 1509' elevation gain

Course and features

Both courses use extensive single-track trails with an initial mile of wide gravel and flat trail, a steep rocky 300' ascent called "THE CLIMB," and varied technical sections with roots and rocks. An 80-foot observation tower sits at the mountain peak; runners have an optional stair climb to the top late in the event. Runners who do not climb may take a real-time, 5-minute time penalty served at the aid station. The organizer rates the course technical difficulty as 4- out of 5.

Logistics, services, and rules

Parking at the staging area is limited to 60 vehicles; other participants walk about 1/2 mile from Camp Frontier or use shuttles from designated lots. Drop-offs at the staging area are not allowed. Aid stations are placed every 1-2 miles. Chip timing, post-race food, finisher medals, event tees, free photos, and shuttle service are provided. Minimum unaccompanied age is 12; ages 8-11 must race alongside a registered parent or guardian. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
