The Winter Green Man Ultra

The Winter Green Man Ultra follows the Community Forest Path around Bristol and is offered in two formats on the same day. Both races use the same course, checkpoints and finish but start from different locations and run the route in an anti-clockwise direction.

Distances

  • 45 miles / 72 kilometres full anti-clockwise loop, start and finish at Ashton Park School.
  • 30 miles / 48 kilometres partial anti-clockwise loop, starts at Keynsham and finishes at Ashton Park School.

The 45 mile race has 3100 ft (945 m) of elevation, four checkpoints and a 12 hour cut-off. The 30 mile race has 1900 ft (580 m) of elevation, two checkpoints and a 9 hour cut-off. Checkpoints provide timing, water and basic nutrition; competitors must ensure checkpoint attendants record their race number.

The event uses chip timing and is self navigation. Written directions and GPX files are provided. Timelords run to target finish times of 9, 10, 11 and 12 hours to help with pacing and navigation; runners are advised to allow extra time when following a timelord.

All entrants must register online in advance, be aged 20 or over, carry mandatory kit and display their race number and timing chip clearly. Entry fees are non refundable though deferral or transfer may be allowed for an admin fee. Finishers receive a bespoke T shirt, medal and certificate; trophies are awarded for top placings. Avon Wildlife Trust is the race nominated charity and charity entries have a stated minimum fundraising pledge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
