Event overview
The White Horse Gallop is a roughly 12K off-road run along bridle paths and across the Imber Range, passing close to the Westbury White Horse. It is listed as Race #3 in the Wiltshire Off Road Race League and is in its 12th year. Two entry options are offered: a standard entry that includes a bespoke finisher medal and a no-medal entry.
Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers and to veteran categories V40, V50, V60 and V70 for both sexes. Route GPX files are available for download.
Logistics and entry
Facilities listed for the event include toilets, refreshments for purchase, two water stations, first aid cover and public liability insurance. Parking at Leighton Recreation Centre (BA13 3PT) is limited; there is a pay-and-display on Warminster Road (opposite the petrol station, BA13 3PE) which is about a ten minute walk to the start. Competitors are asked to be courteous to residents and consider car sharing.
Entry is limited to set fields: one event lists 200 total places and the no-medal option lists 100 total places. The race is open only to runners aged 16 or over on the day; headphones and dogs are not permitted. Entry fees listed are: affiliated £22 / unattached £24 for the medal option, and affiliated £20 / unattached £22 for the no-medal option. Merchandise items are available for purchase on race day.
