Event overview

The Welsh Three Peaks Challenge covers the three highest peaks in Wales: Snowdon in the North, Cadair Idris in mid-Wales, and Pen y Fan in the South. The route has a total walking distance of 17 miles (27.4 km) and a total ascent of 2334 metres (7657 ft). The challenge is usually completed in less than 24 hours. The route requires travel between the three mountains.

Participation options and logistics

Participants can join organised events that provide transport, mountain leaders, and food and drink, or they can arrange a self-organised challenge. Public open-event dates are offered in 2026 and 2027; listed open-event prices are £360 per person. Run a scenic 70k along the Taff Trail from the Brecon Beacons to Nantgarw, passing reservoirs, waterfalls and historic sites. The event includes coach transfer to the start, checkpoints, timing and a finisher medal.
