The event uses a Toll Ticket system modeled on Pennsylvania Turnpike toll tickets. Each runner receives a physical ticket that limits how often they may exit the tunnel for support during the race. Entry is by application and selection. Priority is given to applicants with documented extreme endurance experience; the organizers recommend recent completion of events such as a 100 mile ultramarathon, backyard ultra, or comparable effort.
