Ironstone 100K Ultra

The Ironstone 100K is a point-to-point ultramarathon located in the Ridge and Valley region of Southern Pennsylvania. The course covers a distance of 100 kilometers (62 miles) through varied terrain across Blair, Huntingdon, and Centre counties.

The route traverses several geographic landmarks, including the Juniata River watershed and the Rothrock State Forest. Participants navigate technical sections on some of the wildest trails in the region. The race path includes features such as the Ironstone Tramline and the Lower Trail, which involves crossing the Dilling Bridge near mile 11.4.

As part of the Eastern States Trail-Endurance Alliance (ESTEA), the event adheres to Trail Sisters Approved standards. These standards ensure several race features:

  • Equal podiums and awards for participants.
  • Women-specific apparel and event gear.
  • Availability of menstrual products at aid stations.
  • Specific policies regarding pregnancy and postpartum participation.

The event is organized by an all-volunteer, grassroots organization focused on trail stewardship and cooperation between trail users and local communities. The race is also part of the Grand Slam Sufferfest Series. Several aid stations are positioned along the course to support runners, including the Alfarata station in Alexandria.
