Ironstone 100K
The Ironstone 100K is a point-to-point 100-kilometer (62-mile) trail ultramarathon scheduled for July 11-12, 2026. The course runs through the Ridge and Valley region of southern Pennsylvania, moving from the Juniata River watershed into Rothrock State Forest and spanning Blair, Huntingdon, and Centre counties.
The event is organized by the Eastern States Trail-Endurance Alliance, an all-volunteer grassroots group that emphasizes trail stewardship and community support. Course infrastructure includes multiple aid stations; for 2026 the race added a manned, water-only aid station at Jackson Trail (AS7) and adjusted water-stop locations to address a long overnight stretch from Indian Steps to Little Flat Tower, described as a roughly 5 to 6 hour segment between support points. A course update also notes a closure of the Dilling Bridge on the Lower Trail at about mile 11.4.
Race operations are supported by volunteer trail work coordinated through a DCNR portal, and the event follows Trail Sisters Approved Standards addressing awards, women’s apparel, menstrual products at aid stations, and pregnancy and postpartum policy. The race is listed within the GrandSlam Sufferfest Series and maintains community communication channels including a Strava group for training runs and course previews.
