Chernisky Ghost Town Trail-a-thon

The Chernisky Ghost Town Trail-a-thon is an annual multi-sport event held in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. Organized as part of the Cambria County Trails Series, this event takes place on the Ghost Town Trail, which was designated as Pennsylvania’s 2020 Trail of the Year. The proceedings support the Friends of the Trails Program and the Cambria County Regional Firefighters Association’s Fire Training Facility.

Participants can choose from a variety of distances and formats:

  • Marathon (26.2 miles)
  • 15-miler
  • 5k
  • 0.0k
  • 26.2 mile bicycle ride

The marathon course is notable for being the only marathon held in Cambria County. It utilizes 23 miles of the Ghost Town Trail system and includes a trail connection to Duman Lake County Park. While the running events are competitive with top three placement prizes for male and female finishers in each distance, the 26.2 mile cycling option is organized as a casual bike ride for trail enthusiasts.

Registered participants receive a commemorative long-sleeve shirt, and finishers of the events are awarded a medal. The series offers free entry for youth aged 17 and under. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
