Chernisky Ghost Town Trail-a-thon
The Chernisky Ghost Town Trail-a-thon on October 3, 2026 takes place around Duman Lake County Park near Ebensburg, PA. It is part of the 2026 Cambria County Trails Series and includes multiple foot race distances, an adaptive division for athletes with disabilities, a casual bicycle ride, and a non-running Couch Potato 0.0k.
Distances offered:
- Marathon (26.2 miles): Point-to-point Ebensburg to Duman Lake via the Ghost Town Trail and C & I Extension.
- 15 miler: Point-to-point Nanty Glo to Duman Lake following the same course from a later start point.
- 5k: Out-and-back from Duman Lake on crushed gravel with some pavement and minor climbs.
- Couch Potato 0.0k: Gather at the start line and immediately finish; a couch will be staged for photos.
- Bike ride: Leisurely 26.2 mile round trip from Duman Lake to Twin Rocks trailhead on the Ghost Town Trail and C & I Extension.
Transportation is available from the finish at Duman Lake County Park to starting points for the marathon and 15-miler. The running course includes four full aid stations and three water-only stations; ADA compliant restrooms are located at several points along the route. Full aid stations are at approximately miles 7, 11.5, 16.5, and 21; water-only stations are at approximately miles 3.5, 13, and 25.
The Athletes with Disabilities division is open to physically disabled and visually impaired individuals for the 5k. Non-motorized adaptive equipment is permitted. Guides are not official entrants unless they register, must remain with their participant, and may not push or use a bicycle. Awards include top three male and female finishers for the marathon, 15-miler, and 5k, with additional placement awards in the AWD 5k. Pre-registered participants receive a commemorative long sleeve shirt and all finishers receive a finisher's medal.
