Jim Mayer Trail Family Fun Run

The Jim Mayer Trail Family Fun Run is a 5K run and walk held in Johnstown, PA, organized by the Cambria County Trails Series as part of the 2026 trail series. The event uses an out-and-back 5K course along the original section of the Jim Mayer Trail from the Riverside Trailhead on Michigan Avenue to Bridge Street. The route follows the Stonycreek River and passes the Trail Art Murals near the old trolley bridge in Moxham, with the turnaround shortly after the trolley bridge.

A water and Gatorade station is located at the 5K turnaround by Bridge Street. Water, Gatorade, and basic first aid supplies are also available at the finish. Walkers are asked to stay to the right on the trail. The event proceeds support the Friends of the Trails program, which funds maintenance and enhancement of local trails.

Registration notes: youth entries ages 17 and under for the 5K are free through a sponsor. Online pre-registered participants are guaranteed an event shirt. Entry fees differ by registration date and membership status; same day registration is available and shirts are not guaranteed then. Parking is available at the Riverside Volunteer Fire Department a few blocks from the Riverside Trailhead.

Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in both the 5K run and the 5K walk, with similar awards for youth. Timing and results are provided by UltraSignup and photos and results are posted after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
