Jacob Hershberger Memorial Run

The Jacob Hershberger Memorial Run is an annual fundraising event held in Schellsburg, Pennsylvania. This eighth edition of the event supports local scholarships for Bedford High School students and provides financial assistance to community members in need. The event features multiple options for participants of different physical abilities, including:

  • 5K Run
  • 5K Challenge Walk
  • 5K Easy Walk

The event utilizes two distinct courses. Course 1 is intended for both runners and challenge walkers, featuring a grass and gravel surface with rolling hills. Course 2 is a flat route designed for the easy walk, making it accessible for strollers, young children, and elderly participants. Participants who register for the walking categories are required to walk for the duration of the event to ensure fairness for competitive walkers.

Awards are presented to the top three male and female runners in several age categories, ranging from 12 and under to 60 and over. Additionally, the top three overall male and female walkers for both courses receive recognition, and the overall top male and female finishers are awarded cash prizes. Registration includes a race t-shirt for those who sign up by the late July deadline. The race is professionally timed, with results published online following the completion of the events.
