Jacob Hershberger Memorial Run

The event is an annual memorial run held on August 9, 2026 in Schellsburg, Pennsylvania at 300 Camp Living Water Road. It offers a 5K running event and two 5K walking options, listed as a challenge walk and an easy walk. Registration opens March 20, 2026 and closes August 9, 2026. The registration fee is $25. Race shirts are included with registration for those who pre-register by July 19.

Proceeds support the Jacob Hershberger Memorial Scholarships, which are awarded each year to two Bedford High School students, and provide assistance to community members in financial need after the death of a young person.

Awards are presented to the top three female and top three male runners in each age group and to the top three male and top three female walkers overall for both courses. The age groups are 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and over. The top overall male and top overall female each receive a trophy.

Course 1 is a scenic cross country style route with rolling hills on a mix of grass, gravel and pavement and is laid out to approximate a 5K distance. Course 2 is a flat route around the property suited to strollers, young children and older participants. Race timing is provided by a professional timing service.
