Laurel Highlands Ultra - Fall Classic

The Laurel Highlands Ultra - Fall Classic is a point to point trail event in Somerset, PA that offers a full 50 mile race and a five person relay on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. The course begins near Mile Marker 46 at the Rt 30 trailhead and follows the LHHT south to its terminus at Mile 0 in Ohiopyle, finishing in town near Falls City Pub.

The route includes about 46 miles on the LHHT with over 7,500 ft of ascent and roughly 8,500 ft of descent. An interactive course map is noted as coming soon. There will be 6 to 7 aid stations located at trailhead parking lots; all are described as fully stocked and staffed and all racers must reach aid stations for checkins and timing. Typical aid includes Skratch electrolyte hydration, fruit, pb&j, potatoes, pretzels, chips, candy, and sometimes broth, bacon, quesadillas and pierogi. Vegan and gluten free options are available.

Spectators and crew may access aid stations at Miles 14, 27, 31 and 39; there is no access at Miles 7, 20 or 44. Pacers are allowed only at Mile 39 and must be able to reach the finish at Mile 50. The five person relay features legs between 4 and 14 miles; exchange points and final details are to be determined and relay members should plan their own transportation.

Start line parking is at the Rt 30 Trailhead parking lot; finish line parking is at Ferncliff Trailhead in Ohiopyle. A pre race shuttle from the finish lot to the start is available for a fee. The event benefits the Pennsylvania Parks & Forest Foundation. Volunteers can earn a free race entry for a full day of volunteering. Registration closes Thu, Sep 24.
