Laurel Highlands Ultra - Fall Classic

The Laurel Highlands Ultra - Fall Classic is scheduled for September 26, 2026. It is a point to point ultramarathon organized by Redpoint Productions on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. The course begins near Mile Marker 46 at the Rt 30 trailhead and follows the trail south to its terminus at Mile 0 in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania. Organizers will add a few extra miles to approach a total of 50 Mile.

Course details note that 46 miles are on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail with over 7,500 feet of ascent and about 8,500 feet of descent. There will be 6 to 7 aid stations located at trailhead parking lots; all are planned to be fully stocked and staffed. Every racer must reach each aid station for checkins and timing. Typical aid station supplies include electrolyte hydration, fruit, pb and j, potatoes, pretzels, chips, candy, and occasional items such as broth, bacon, quesadillas, and pierogi. Vegan and gluten free options are mentioned.

A five person relay is offered for the 50 Mile distance. Relay legs range between 4 and 14 miles. Relay exchange points are to be determined and relay members should plan their own transportation to exchanges. Pacers may join only at Mile 39 and must be able to accompany a runner to the finish at Mile 50.

Start and finish parking locations are the Rt 30 trailhead parking lot and the Ferncliff Trailhead in Ohiopyle. The event benefits the Pennsylvania Parks and Forest Foundation. Awards include a finisher award for every finisher and top awards by gender and category, plus relay honors. Volunteer options include free race entries for a full day of volunteering.
