Rock 'n The Knob Trail Challenge

The Rock 'n The Knob Trail Challenge takes place at Blue Knob, which reaches over 3,100 feet above sea level, making it the highest race in Pennsylvania. The event features technical and rocky terrain across the Central Alleghenies, with multiple course lengths available to participants.

Participants can choose from three distinct distances:

  • 10K: Includes nearly 1,500 feet of climbing with two major ascents and one aid station.
  • 13.1 Miles: Features approximately 3,500 feet of climbing and 7,000 feet of total elevation change with three aid stations.
  • 50K: An ultramarathon course with roughly 7,500 feet of total climbing, incorporating technical sections from the shorter routes.

The courses utilize a variety of local trails such as Lost Porcupine, Throat Punch Hill, and Soul Sucker Slopes. The event starts and finishes at Blue Knob All-Seasons Resort, where lodging is available adjacent to the race site.

Registration includes a swag package as well as post-race food and beverages. For the 10K participants, the event does not permit pacers, drop bags, or crew assistance. Bib pickup is organized at the pavilion near the restaurant and conference center.

The event is held in Claysburg, PA, and explores the most northern peak in the Alleghenies that exceeds 3,000 feet. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
