The Turtle and the Lamb
Trail Running in Dinden National Park
The Turtle and the Lamb is a trail running event held in the Dinden National Park, with Race HQ situated approximately 11 km along Davies Creek Road at nodes 5 and 6. Participants navigate a variety of trails through the local landscape, with the event offering three distinct course options:
- 19 km: This "figure 8" course includes a climb to Turtle Rock, a descent known as "The Hurtle Down the Turtle," and a second ascent reaching 1100 m above sea level near Lamb’s Head.
- 6 km: This route follows the first loop of the long course, featuring the climb to Turtle Rock and the subsequent downhill section before finishing across the creek.
- 3 km: A course designed specifically for juniors and grubs, involving a 1.5 km run towards the back of Turtle Rock before returning to the start line.
The event utilizes dirt roads and established trails such as the Ridge Trail and the Kahlpahlim Rock Trail. Participants must provide their own hydration equipment as cups are not supplied at the water stations. Post-race food is provided, and random draw prizes are available for entrants.
Camping is available on-site at various nodes within the park for those wishing to stay overnight. Due to the location within a National Park, domestic animals are not permitted. Registration is conducted online, and participants are encouraged to carpool due to limited parking at the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
