The Timp Trail Marathon and Half
The event on May 15, 2027 takes place in Orem, Utah and features a marathon and a half marathon. Both races start and finish at Timpanogos Park. Registration closes Friday, May 14 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time.
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
The marathon route is described as a new course with 5,883 feet of elevation gain. The terrain is 99.9% mountain trail and fire break roads with only a few asphalt crossings. Runners can expect technical ascents and descents, rocky sections, and possible snow, rain, mud, or stream crossings. The organizer advises treating the course like an ultra-distance event; there will not be porta-johns, mile markers, spectators, or volunteers positioned to guide runners.
Course markings use pink and blue flagging: pink indicates the route and pink plus blue together indicate a turn on the side of the trail.
Aid stations on the marathon course are positioned as follows: Starting Line; Cliff Edge (mile 5.34); Dry Canyon Trailhead (mile 7.7); Battle Creek Trailhead (mile 10.25 and again at mile 18.15); Grove Creek Trailhead (mile 11.39); Dry Canyon Trailhead again (mile 20.61); Cliff Edge (mile 25.29); Finish (mile 26.63). A drop bag option is available at Battle Creek (mile 18.15) and those items will be returned to the starting area after the last runner clears that aid station.
Cutoff requirements apply: runners must be out of Grove Creek (mile 11.39) by 10:00 AM, out of Battle Creek (mile 18.15) by 12:20 PM, and out of Dry Canyon (mile 20.61) by 1:00 PM. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
