The Timp Trail Marathon and Half
The Timp Trail Marathon and Half takes place in Orem, Utah, with start and finish at Timpanogos Park near U.S. 189 east of Provo Canyon. The event offers these distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
Both races follow the same published course description and course maps. Participants are expected to know the route, run with someone familiar, or be able to follow GPX maps and the written course description. The marathon route has 5,883 feet of elevation gain and is made up of roughly 99.9% mountain trail and fire break roads; only a few low-elevation crossings use asphalt. There are sections of technical ascent and descent and varied surface conditions. Weather and trail conditions may include snow, rain, mud, potential stream crossings, and rocks.
Facilities and support are limited: there will not be porta-johns, mile markers, spectators, or volunteers indicating direction on course. The race is described as requiring an ultra-style approach despite being marathon distance. Registration closes on Friday, May 15 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time. Late registrants are not guaranteed a race shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
