Cirque Series - Alta, UT
The Cirque Series event at Alta is a single mountain race held in Alta, Utah on August 15, 2026. The course is 7.1 miles with 2,545 feet of elevation gain and is located on the Salt Lake Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The race field is capped at 500 entries.
The course runs clockwise from the base of Goldminer's Daughter (elevation 8,650 ft.). Runners follow a service road along the Transfer Tow and ascend the Albion Meadows Trail through subalpine fir, Engelmann spruce, and aspen. The route includes steep single track switchbacks, a mid mountain waypoint at Alf's (elevation 9,200 ft.), road sections under the Sugarloaf lift line, the Keyhole, high alpine meadow segments, and a staffed aid station at the top of Collins (10,400 ft.). The route continues across the East Baldy Traverse to Sugarloaf Pass (10,500 ft.), up a rocky ascent to the Mt. Baldy summit (11,068 ft.), then down a northwest ridge that may be snowy. Runners pass Wildcat Lift (9,780 ft.), travel past Watson Shelter (9,280 ft.) and return on the service road to the finish.
Hydration is provided at two aid stations and at the finish. Competitors must follow course flagging for safety and observe a strict cut off at Alf's Lodge / base of Sugarloaf chair for the 1.7 mile 700 ft segment; that cut off is enforced. Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons are protected watersheds and fines apply for dogs at the venue or left in a car. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
