Wasatch Trail Run Series – Alta

The event is a trail race series stop based at Alta Town Park. It uses nearby single-track and dirt roads in Albion Basin and surrounding ridgelines. The course description includes sections on the Lower Albion Basin Trail, Snake Pit, Home Run Trail, Catherine's Pass Trail, and Albion Basin Trail, with narrow single-track sections and some steep ledges. Runners cross dirt roads where vehicular traffic is present.

Two course options are offered:

  • Short Course: looped route from Alta Town Park using Lower Albion Basin and single-track sections.
  • Long Course: about 9.5 miles with 2300 feet of elevation gain, includes ridge sections and Devil's Castle.

Long Course runners must carry a headlamp. There is a cut-off requirement: Long Course participants must reach mile 4 by 7:30 PM or be recorded as DNF and directed to return to the start on foot. Runners are advised to bring a full hydration pack because water is available only at the start and finish areas.

Registration opens at Alta Town Park at 5 pm. Parking is concentrated at the Wildcat Base Area, the first parking lot entering Little Cottonwood Canyon. Dogs are not allowed in the canyon. The event notes a post-race barbecue and indicates preferred parking for barbecue attendees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
