Butterfield Canyon Marathon
The Butterfield Canyon Marathon is a trail marathon and half marathon held in Herriman, Utah, with start and finish at the Butterfield Canyon Trailhead. The event is organized by Happy Trails Running and includes marked courses, aid stations, and postrace food and awards.

The marathon course totals 26.2 miles with +4,556 ft elevation gain and is composed of about 72% dirt trail, 17% fire road, and 10% dirt road. The route includes long single track sections, steep rocky climbs, ridge views, and several extended segments between aid stations; runners are required to carry a hydration vest or bottle. The half marathon covers 13.1 miles with +1,950 ft elevation gain and is about 81% dirt trail.
Aid stations carry Tailwind, water, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, fruit, and other snack items. Course navigation uses pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals; wrong way routes are marked with red flags. Packet pickup is available Friday 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Sandy Salt Lake Running Store. Registration follows early, normal, and late pricing tiers, and late registration closes the night before the event.
