The TarDevil 30 Mile Bushwhack

The TarDevil 30 Mile Bushwhack is an annual, informal training run of 30 miles held in the Chapel Hill - Durham area of North Carolina. It is a point-to-point route between the University of North Carolina (Old Well) and Duke University (Duke Chapel). On even years the run goes from UNC to Duke; on odd years it goes from Duke to UNC. The event is described as a fun run "fat-ass" and is not affiliated with any organization.

Format, registration and risks

Participation is informal and at the runner's own risk; the organizer states that all liability is assumed by participants. The route includes many challenging sections and organizers warn that risks can be significant, including permanent injury, drowning, or other forms of death.
