The TarDevil 30 Mile Bushwhack
The TarDevil 30 Mile Bushwhack is an annual point to point training run of roughly 30 miles between Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The route alternates by year: in odd years the course runs from Duke Chapel to the Old Well on the UNC campus, and in even years it runs from the Old Well to Duke Chapel.
The event is organized as a self-run "fat-ass" fun run and is not affiliated with any formal organization. Participation is entirely at the runner's own risk and participants assume all liability.
The route includes many challenging sections and carries significant hazards. Stated risks include permanent injury, drowning, or other forms of death. No one has died yet.
The listing identifies Chapel Hill, NC as the general location and names Duke Chapel and the Old Well as the primary meeting and finish landmarks. The run is described as a point-to-point training event rather than a formally sanctioned race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
