The Sussex Stride 2026

The Sussex Stride is a long-distance event covering 52 miles with approximately 7,000 ft of ascent and a 23 hours completion limit. The route starts and finishes at Plumpton College in Lewes and crosses countryside in the South Downs National Park, visiting Offham, Lewes, Glynde, Firle, Alfriston, East Dean, Litlington, Norton, Rodmell and Falmer. The event is an official qualifier for LDWA Jurassic Hundred 2027. Entries are limited to 250 and the minimum age is 18.

There are six checkpoints en route, all of which must be visited in the correct order. Support at checkpoints includes hot and cold drinks and refreshments, a light mid-event meal and a breakfast at the finish; vegetarian options are provided. A badge will be available for purchase. Changing rooms, showers and sleeping facilities are available at the finish and luggage may be left at the hall at the entrant's own risk. Free parking is available at the college.

Entrants must carry the full route description, which will be supplied in doc and pdf formats and as a GPX file; the GPX file is provided as support only and the route description is the definitive guide. A mug and torch or headtorch are required. OS maps covering the route should be carried and weather can change quickly on the South Downs. Results will be published on the LDWA website.
