The Sussex Stride 2026

The Sussex Stride is a long distance walking and running event covering 52 miles with 7,000 ft of ascent to be completed within 23 hours. The route starts and finishes at Plumpton College and crosses countryside in the South Downs National Park, passing Offham, Lewes, Glynde, Firle, Alfriston, East Dean, Litlington, Norton, Rodmell and Falmer.

There are seven staffed checkpoints on the route. Each checkpoint provides food and drink, with a light meal mid-event and a cooked breakfast at the finish; vegetarian options are available. A printed certificate is given to finishers or an emailed PDF can be provided.

Navigation is part of the event. The route is not signposted; entrants receive a full route description and a GPX file is supplied for support only. Maps covering the route (OS Landranger 198 and 199 or Explorer OL11 and OL25) must be carried in paper or electronic form. Entrants must carry a mug and a torch or headtorch.

Places are limited to 250 and the minimum age is 18 on the day of the event. Membership of the LDWA is not required. Dogs are not allowed except assistance dogs with prior approval.
