The Sussex Stride 2026

The Sussex Stride is a long-distance event organized by the LDWA Sussex branch, taking place over two days. The course spans 52 miles with a total ascent of 7,000 feet. Participants have a maximum of 23 hours to complete the route. The event is an official qualifier for the LDWA Jurassic Hundred 2027.

The journey begins and ends at Plumpton College in Lewes. The route traverses the South Downs National Park, passing through several locations including:

The course visits Offham, Lewes, Glynde, Firle, Alfriston, East Dean, Litlington, Norton, Rodmell, and Falmer. There are six checkpoints located along the route that must be visited in a specific order. All participants must finish by 09:00 on the second day to receive a certificate.

Facilities at the venue include changing rooms, showers, and a sports hall for sleeping after the finish. Free parking is available at the college. Registration requires a personal mug and a torch or headtorch. The entry fee covers refreshments and hot or cold drinks at checkpoints, a light meal during the event, and breakfast at the finish. Vegetarian options are provided for all meals.

Participants must be at least 18 years old. The event is open to both walkers and runners, but dogs are not permitted. Each entrant is required to carry a printed or electronic route description and appropriate Ordnance Survey maps (Landranger 198 and 199 or Explorer OL11 and OL25).
