The Legacy takes place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Gastonia, North Carolina, at George Poston Park (1101 Lowell Spencer Mtn Rd). The race honors the organizer's father. Net proceeds are designated for research into brain deterioration and learning disabilities. Registration closes on Wednesday, January 14.

Course and aid
The 1 Mile uses a separate paved route consisting of two laps around the back soccer field. The 5K, 10K and 50K start on the soccer loop and use the Spencer Mountain loop trails before returning. The trail is a mountain bike trail and is described with a difficulty of 4 on a 10-point scale. Course marking will use yellow ribbon and yellow arrows. An aid station will be stocked with basic food items such as pickles, cereal, pretzels, candy, fruit and bacon; hydration includes water, Tailwind and a variety of sodas. First aid supplies will be available. Packet pickup is offered the day before and there is day-of bib pickup.
Rules and other information
Trekking poles are allowed. Medals are handmade pottery items from BlueGill Pottery; each medal is unique. The event has a 10-hour cutoff. No dogs or strollers are allowed on course unless a special exception is made. Entry fees are non-refundable if the event is canceled; deferral requests must be directed to the race director.
