The Event

The Rivington 10 Mile Trail Challenge is a spring trail running event in the Lancashire countryside, based in Rivington Village near Bolton. The event has been held for several years and frequently sells out. It is a chip-timed race over a distance of 10 miles (approximately 16 km), with a cut-off time of 2 hours 30 minutes. All finishers receive a bespoke medal. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers, as well as winners in multiple age categories.

The course is a loop that starts and finishes in Rivington Village. It is a well-marked trail route that passes through varied scenery, including woodland paths in White Coppice, trails around Wheelton Plantation, and open countryside offering views of the West Pennine Moors.

A trail 5 km race around Clowbridge Reservoir in Burnley, held as the final event in a three race spring series. Open to participants aged 11 and over, with prizes in each race and proceeds donated to local causes.

A 10-mile BM fell race across Saddleworth moorland with 1700 ft ascent, mandatory full kit, a safety cut-off, and a post-race Cake Competition offering prizes for best decoration and taste.

A ladies five mile trail race in Worsley on 3 May 2026, organised by Swinton Running Club and based at Beesley Green Community Centre. Online entries open at midnight on 31 December and standard ticket fees apply.

A four hour endurance run on a 5.3 km circuit in New Mills where participants complete as many laps as possible. Entries are now full; minimum age 18 and entry fee £25.
