The PIGUM (Porth i gymru Ultra Marathon) is a 30-mile ultra marathon. It takes place on July 4th, 2026. The start and finish location is Abergavenny, a market town described as the gateway to Wales.

Course Details

The route is a loop around the mountain peaks and trails near Abergavenny. It features approximately 5,446 feet of total elevation gain. The terrain is reported as 80% trail and 20% road.

A specific point of interest on the course is Sugar Loaf mountain, one of the highest peaks in the Black Mountains at 1,955 feet, which participants go over. The route offers views across south Wales, the Brecon Beacons, and into south-west England.

Event Support

There are 2 fully stocked aid stations along the route. These checkpoints are manned and provide snacks, fresh fruit, drinks (hot and cold), seats, power banks, and music. Dietary requirements can be specified during registration.

There are no official time limits for the event. The organizers state they provide support to help all participants reach the finish line.

Participant Requirements

A mandatory kit list is required. This includes appropriate footwear, a water carrier (1 litre), a mobile phone, a headlamp or light source, a foil blanket, a waterproof jacket, a rucksack, and a sense of adventure.

Registration includes an "Infamous Pegasus Medal," post-race care, access to the checkpoints, support from the event crew, and a professionally organized event.
