The PIGUM 2026

The PIGUM is a 30 miles ultra marathon around Abergavenny, described as a route over local mountain peaks and trails with 5,000 feet of elevation. The course passes over the Sugar Loaf mountain and runs through the surrounding hills near Abergavenny, a market town referred to as the gateway to Wales. The route is available online and includes mountain and trail terrain.

Logistics and what is provided

The event has no official time limit. There are three fully manned checkpoints on the route stocked with snacks, fresh fruit, hot and cold drinks, seating, power banks and music. The organiser lists required kit including appropriate footwear, a 1 litre water carrier, mobile phone, compass (phone version acceptable), headlamp or other light source, foil blanket, waterproof jacket and rucksack. Entry includes a Pegasus medal, post race care, staffed checkpoints, and support from event crew; the event is described as professionally organised. Entrants receive a welcome email and further emails at roughly 6, 4 and 2 weeks before the event, and may get a phone call from the Race Director a few days beforehand.
