The PIGUM takes place on July 4th 2026 in Abergavenny. It is a 30 mile ultra marathon on mountain trails around the town, with approximately 5,000 feet of total elevation gain. The route crosses local hills including the Sugar Loaf mountain, which is listed at 1,955 feet and sits among the Llanwenarth, Deri and Rholben ridges.
Course, support and kit
The event route includes three manned checkpoints. Checkpoints are described as stocked with snacks, fresh fruit, hot and cold drinks, seating, power banks and music. The organiser states there are no time limits for finishing. Recommended kit includes appropriate footwear, a 1 litre water carrier, mobile phone, compass (phone version acceptable), headlamp or other light source, foil blanket, waterproof jacket and a rucksack. Entry benefits listed include a Pegasus medal, post-race care, fully loaded checkpoints and support from Pegasus crew members. Registered participants receive a welcome email and further email updates at about six, four and two weeks before the event, plus a pre-event phone call a few days beforehand.
